Turn a photo into a halftoneDERIVE Pro

From a photo to dot halftones, placed as vectors you can still edit.

  1. Open the panel
Window > Extensions > DERIVE Pro.
  2. Load an image
Drag a photo onto "Drop an image here" in the panel. The clearer the light and shadow, the better it comes out.
  3. Pick a mode and adjust
Choose one of eight modes: Spots, Lines, Stipple, Dither, Mosaic, Flow, Contour and Text. Gamma, blur and contrast set the tone, and the preview follows as you move them.
  4. Place it
Press [Place in Illustrator]. What comes out is ordinary paths, so you can change color and shape later. [Save SVG] exports it instead.
